WHY IS SUGAR NOT HEALTHY?
The only thing sugar can be used for in the body is energy. Sugar does not come with any other useful properties. In the Western world, lack of energy is hardly a problem, therefore sugar is completely unnecessary.
According to our approach and modern nutrition science, calories from added white sugar are the absolute worst calories you can consume. When sucrose (white sugar) is broken down in the body, the glucose part goes directly into the body, where it raises blood sugar immediately, whereupon insulin is secreted, so that the body's cells convert this part of the sugar directly into fat, which is stored. The fructose part from the sucrose can only be handled by the liver, which becomes heavily burdened and raises the blood's concentration of unsuitable fats. High consumption of fructose is also linked to an increased risk of age-related diabetes later in life. The above are just a few of the many reasons why basically every food authority in the world wants to reduce the consumption of added sugar in the population.
